FAQ

How often should I train?

You should/can train as often as you are able, time permitting. Twice weekly as a minimum is fine but 3 times and more will give you the best results. We have many venues in reasonably close distance to each other, so availability is there 6 days a week. Obviously the more you give, the more you get and the faster you will progress.

How often are gradings conducted?

Gradings are conducted every 4 months under a Senior Examiner appointed by the Association. Black Belt examinations are held by a panel of examiners and take place at International Seminars. All our black belts are certificated in Japan.

How long does it take to get a Black Belt?

This depends on your training and progress and also if you attend training for the higher grades, but generally a minimum of 4/5 years of consistent training would be required.

Can Parents and Children train together?

Yes, Children may train accompanied by their parents in the Adult classes as well as mixed classes. In fact we have many of our members training together with their children.

Do I have to fight?

We teach karate for health and self defence. There is no ACTUAL fighting in our classes. Fighting or the full execution of our techniques can be very dangerous, hence they are for self defence only. However, there is partner work as well as controlled sparring and a high level of control is taught.
